Trauma therapy
The therapist will work with you in a safe space to explore and assess your current coping mechanisms and help you make sense of what has happened in your life, using tailored therapeutic approaches to help you manage your emotional responses to a traumatic event.
Child-centred Play Therapy (coming soon in 2025)
Child-centred play therapy engages children’s creativity and imagination. The therapist uses fun toys and interesting games to help children process their struggles or feelings with a non-directive approach.

What is counselling? What benefits I can get from counselling?
Counselling is a safe space that allows you to discuss your concerns at your own pace in a confidential and judgement-free environment. Counsellor uses different modalities tailor to your needs. If you are still unsure, you may want to have a look at What to expect for more details.
What are my payment options?
We accept Bank transfers for online sessions. At this stage, we only accept payment through Halaxy systems with card authorisation. Please read our Service Agreement or email [email protected] for more details.
Payment is required on the day of service unless it’s an emergency or extenuating circumstances are present. Please discuss this with your therapist beforehand.
For all Telehealth appointments, payment is required to be made before the appointment commences.
Your payment includes GST.
What kind of payment support can I receive?
Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP): you can get an MHTP from your GP/paediatrician/psychiatrist. With this plan, you are eligible for a Medicare rebate rate for counselling.
Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA): if you are a White/Gold card holder, you are eligible to receive mental health support with Mindknit Counselling therapist. Please note: White card holders please check your eligibility for mental health support with DVA before accessing counselling with Mindknit Counselling.
Private Health Insurance: some private health funds accept claims for Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AHMHSW)sessions. Please check with your health fund first before your appointment. If your private health fund accepts AHMHSW, you can submit your claim with the receipt provided by the therapist. Click here for more details.
Can I cancel my appointment? Can I be late for my appointment?
We require a minimum of 24 hours (1 day) notice of any need to change or cancel a consultation. A fee will be charged for non-attendance or cancellation with less than 24 hours’ notice.
The duration of all consultations is 50 minutes. Time is required at the end of each session to prepare for the next client. If you arrive late, the consultation will still end at the scheduled time to ensure other clients receive their allocated time allowance.

How do you store my information?
We store your session information on Halaxy. You have the right to access your information. Our Privacy Policy lists all the details about how we collect and store your information.
Confidentiality and e-safety
Mindknit Counselling treats confidentiality seriously. Everything discussed between you and your therapist is private and kept confidential. There are however some exceptions. In the event you are determined to be a risk of harm to yourself or others, have committed or intend to commit a serious crime, or where required by law, the client-therapist confidentiality and terms of the privacy policy may be breached. This is to ensure the safety of you, and others around you, and to comply with any legal requirements (such as court orders).
In terms of e-safety, Your bank details are managed by Halaxy and Commonwealth Bank. All e-safety rules are applied to these companies’ security and policies.
