Counselling Services

Take a breath, one step at a time, and let go of the negative narrative you tell about yourself.

Individual Therapy

The therapist tailors support to your needs and works together with you to create meaningful changes in your self-discovery journey.

Trauma Therapy

The therapist will work with you in a safe space to explore and assess your current coping mechanisms and help you make sense of what has happened in your life, using tailored therapeutic approaches to help you manage your emotional responses to a traumatic event.

Play-based Child Therapy

Play-based child therapy engages children’s creativity and imagination. The therapist uses fun toys and interesting games to help children process their struggles or feelings with a non-directive approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age group do you work with? What type of therapies do you use?

I work with children under 14 years old and adults. I use creative modalities to work with children with a combination of direct and non-direct approaches. With adult clients, I intend to use cognitive-behavioural therapy. However, I believe one doesn’t fit all. I often adjust my approaches to meet the client’s current needs.

What kind of support options do you offer?

We offer Medicare rebate, DVA rebate, private health insurance. We do provide support NDIS participants, but please note Mindknit Counselling is not an NDIS-registered service. For more details please see Service agreement.

What kind of payment options do you have?

You can pay by card via Halaxy, please see Service agreement for more details regarding payment safety.

If you’d like to pay by cash, please bring the correct amount to the session.

Do I need a referral before I see the therapist?

Yes and no.

GP referral: if you want to access support through Mental Health Care Plan or access DVA rebate, you need a referral from your GP.

Private Health Insurance: if you use private insurance to access counselling, you do not need a referral.

NDIS: you don’t need a referral if you are an NDIS participant. Please speak to your service provider or Coordinate of Supports regarding your mental health support.

Please Note: you can claim from either your private insurance fund or Medicare, but NOT both at the same time. Private insurance will not bridge the ‘gap’ between the Medicare rebate and the consultation fees.

Can I cancel my appointment? Do you waive cancellation fees?

Yes, but we require 24 hours notice. Charging a cancellation fee is probably the least enjoyable part of running our practice. However, at times it it necessary to ensure that we can remain open. It also means we do not have to increase fees to those that do attend, to cover loss of cost when clients don’t.

Do we ever waiver cancellation fees? Of course! We have many clients who rarely cancel and when they do due to genuine illness, we will of course (at our discretion) waiver this fee. We do not want to penalise anyone for being sick. Furthermore, we do not want you to have drag yourself to therapy when you are unwell.

Is parking available? Is your office accessible for people lives with disabilities?

Yes. However, we have limited space for customer parking and a parking spot is not guaranteed. There is plenty of parking within a short walking distance nearby.

Still have questions?
